I paint because I love the process of working with the materials, the satisfaction of executing an idea, and the thrill of conjuring up something out of nothing.

Seemingly traditional landscapes, still-lifes, or figurative work may contain an implied meaning or an exciting formal idea.  More contrived, or imagined subjects will hopefully suggest interesting questions or challenges for the viewer.

My work may contain emotional content that might otherwise be impossible to describe: ie, the  power of a peaceful moment, great joy, or a curious situation.  Others are simply funny to me.

I enjoy working at perfecting my craft in order to get ever closer to realizing each idea with ease.  Whether traditional, allegorical, or abstract, I strive to say something new, avoid gimmickry, and to produce well crafted, thoughtful and compelling paintings.
